Brock Bowers says transition on Georgia's offense has been 'pretty easy'
Brock Bowers mentioned the transition in Georgia’s offense was “pretty easy” after some changes from the 2022 season.
Former offensive coordinator Todd Monken went back to the NFL and Mike Bobo stepped into the role. Also, Stetson Bennett was drafted and there is a three-way quarterback battle between Carson Beck, Brock Vandagriff and Gunner Stockton.
Bowers said the presence of Bobo made it easy since the latter was with the program as an analyst last season.
“Yeah, it was pretty seamless because Bubba was there last year and then the tight end room actually helping out and just being the offense, quality control, assistant kind of role,” Bowers said. “So everyone was kind of used to him. I mean, everyone really likes him. So it’s been a pretty seamless transition.”
Bowers also talked about his relationship with Beck. So even going from one quarterback to the next was pretty seamless.
“Then, our relationship with Carson Beck is actually really good,” Bowers said. “We’ve been locker buddies, I guess. We are right next to each other in the locker room every day. He’s been doing really good. So we’ve been around each other the last two years, so it’s been pretty — pretty easy.”

Bowers doubled down on Bobo since the coach was in the tight end room last season.
“Yeah, I mean, like I said, Bobo was — Coach Bobo was in the tight end room last year so it was an easy transition,” Bowers said. “He brings a lot of the same offensive stuff to the table as Coach Monken did, and so he’ll be throwing a few wrinkles here and there, but it will all be same players and just got to do the same thing.”
Bowers increased his production last season in terms of catches and yardage. He finished with 63 catches, 942 yards, seven touchdowns and 15 yards per catch.
In his career, Bowers has 119 catches, 1,824 yards, 20 touchdowns and 15.3 yards per catch. He can also run the football and has 13 carries for 165 yards and four rushing touchdowns.
As a member of the Class of 2021, Bowers was a four-star recruit out of Napa (Calif.) High, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 4 overall prospect in the state, the No. 1 tight end in the class and the No. 66 overall prospect in the class.
