Amid the Georgia quarterback competition, there have been rumors that Brock Vandagriff could potentially enter the transfer portal. With the portal closing on April 30th, it’s a decision that he’d have to make sooner than later at this point.

After the spring game, Vandagriff was asked if he had given the idea of testing the transfer portal much thought.

“To be completely honest, I hadn’t thought about it much,” Brock Vandagriff said. “Just 15 practices. I had to get better every practice and that’s just where I’m at with that.”

If Brock Vandagriff were to enter the transfer portal, there would definitely be a market for him. He was a five-star recruit in the Class of 2021, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. However, he really has yet to play at the college level outside of mop-up duty.

Despite that, Brock Vandagriff has also admitted that he doesn’t know where the quarterback battle stands. He said, “I’m not sure. I just go out there and do my reps when they tell me to go out there. At the end of the day, it’s about guys that aren’t going to put the team in jeopardy and be able to move the chains with the Georgia Bulldogs.”

On top of that, Brock Vandagriff also admitted that he isn’t sure about his future right now.

“I guess there’s some praying to do,” Vandagriff said. “But my plans, for now, are to just take it day by day.”

The Georgia quarterback competition is up in the air

For his part, head coach Kirby Smart has done his best not to give any hints about who the starting quarterback could be in 2023. In fact, he’s insisted that even he doesn’t know because the evaluation is ongoing.

“They all are really good things,” Kirby Smart told 680 the Fan.

“All three of them are really good leaders. All three of them are really good quarterbacks and the beauty is we get more time to process information. Do you make a decision on an investment when you’re 25% done looking at it? No. I make a decision when I’m 100% through looking at it, and we’re about 25% of the practices we would get before we kick off next year.”

The entire team knows this is how things are too. Offensive players like Brock Bowers are also acknowledging that the quarterback spot is up in the air.

“I think it’s still up in the air,” Bowers said. “They push each other every day. One might have like a better than another and then could switch off every other day. They just keep pushing each other in that room and it’s just gonna make a team that much better.”
