Brock Vandagriff 'not sure' where Georgia quarterback battle stands
As the Georgia Bulldogs continue their quarterback battle, Brock Vandagriff admitted that he’s not sure where that battle currently stands.
Vandagriff admitted this when he was asked about the quarterback competition following the Georgia spring game.
“I’m not sure,” Brock Vandagriff said. “I just go out there and do my reps when they tell me to go out there.”
Brock Vandagriff emphasized that he feels like he has to keep doing what he’s been doing to win the competition and noted that head coach Kirby Smart has said he’s liking what he’s seeing out of all the quarterbacks.
“At the end of the day, it’s about guys that aren’t going to put the team in jeopardy and be able to move the chains with the Georgia Bulldogs.”
Kirby Smart recently explained that he doesn’t even know where the quarterback battle stands. That’s because they’re only partially through the evaluation process, so it would be premature to have made a decision.
“All three of them are really good leaders. All three of them are really good quarterbacks and the beauty is we get more time to process information,” Smart said.

“Do you make a decision on an investment when you’re 25% done looking at it? No. I make a decision when I’m 100% through looking at it, and we’re about 25% of the practices we would get before we kick off next year.”
Smart has also made it clear what he’s looking for in a starting quarterback already.
“You’ve got to make good decisions. Use your rules. Take your coaching,” Smart said.
“And then not make mistakes. That’s ultimately what a quarterback does. It’s not just making plays, it’s not making mistakes. And eliminating losing the game is the first objective.”
Brock Vandagriff is uncertain about his future
Throughout this quarterback competition, Brock Vandagriff has been uncertain about his future. It’s an issue he’s been dealing with as he tries to earn the starting job. So, with that uncertainty, he needs to take things one day at a time.
“I’m not sure,” Vandagriff said. “I guess there’s some praying to do. But my plans, for now, are to just take it day by day.”
With set windows to enter the transfer portal, Brock Vandagriff would need to enter the portal before the transfer portal closes on April 30th. However, it’s clear that Kirby Smart won’t name a starter before then, complicating the decision. Still, he knows that plenty of teams would want him to come if he entered the portal.
