Brock Vandagriff says Georgia's quarterback room has a 'great vibe'
Throughout college football media, much has been made about the quarterback battle that happened over the spring in Georgia. With national championship game MVP Stetson Bennett off to the NFL, the question has been who will replace him as the Bulldogs signal caller in 2023. One of those likely to do so is sophomore quarterback Brock Vandagriff.
And while the competition on the field might have been hotter than a Georgia summer, the vibe inside of the Bulldogs quarterback room has been chill, according to Vandagriff.
“The quarterback room overall; it’s just a great vibe. And all three of us, the guys that are getting most of the reps, we’re really supportive of the others,” said Vandagriff. “Jackson Muschamp and Collin Drake, they’re there too. Like this week, we all had a devotion for five days. We all shared our devotion, each personal devotion. And at the end, coach Bobo said this is one of the best quarterback groups and rooms I’ve ever been part of.
“It’s just being bought in. Everyone’s on the same page. Everyone’s working to please coach Bobo and help to contribute to this team.”
Vandagriff is a Georgia native hailing from Bogart, GA. The six-foot-three, 205-pound quarterback has spent two seasons with the Bulldogs. In those two years, he is yet to record a start. However, he has seen some playing time, albeit very little.

Vandagriff played in two games last season, against Samford in Georgia’s second game, followed by an appearance against South Carolina the following week. And in those two games, he attempted two passes and completed neither. But he was able to rush for seven yards on a single attempt against Samford.
Beck agrees with Vandagriff
The battle to be named Georgia’s next starting quarterback is mainly between Carson Beck and Vandagriff, but true freshman Gunner Stockton has been making some noise in the spring too. However, Georgia has given Beck the upper hand, dating back to last season. Beck was Bennett’s primary backup last season and did well when on the field, completing 74.3 percent of his passes (26-35) for 310 yards, four touchdowns, and zero interceptions.
Still, the redshirt junior shares the same belief as Vandagriff on the feeling within Georgia’s quarterback room.
“I mean, honestly, I’d say this is one of if not the closest quarterback room; at least that I’ve had since I’ve been here. We all hang out outside of football. Like, there’s no animosity and it’s all just competitive excellence. Everyone just brings their hat everyday and tries to be the best they can,” said Beck.
