Brock Vandagriff had some interesting thoughts when speaking on his quarterback competition with Carson Beck.

The two Georgia signal-callers are fighting for the right to be Stetson Bennett’s replacement for the Bulldogs moving forward. Still, Vandagriff believes it’s simply a healthy competition, with both guys pushing each-other to be better players.

“I think it just really comes down to healthy competition,” started Vandagriff. “If you have a dude that’s one of the best in the nation or wherever, and then you have a couple of lesser opponents, that guys not going to get pushed every day in practice. I mean, we have three of four dudes that are just, they’re biting at the nip every time they’re out there. Just you know, hey man, after this play if I’ve got a question, turn around and ask somebody what did they see, like what did you see on this play.

“It’s just a really healthy competition, because everybody’s pushing the other to be great, and then you can turn around in the meeting rooms and say hey, I think you could’ve done this better, or what’d you see on this play. It’s just a good environment, and I’m glad to be here.”

Moreover, Vandagriff has the right mindset for the competition, embracing it wholeheartedly as something that’ll make him a better quarterback, regardless of the outcome.

“It’s just what you come here to do, you come to UGA for competition,” explained Vandagriff. “I knew that coming in. Coach Smart, he’s going to put the best guy out there. He’s going to give the best guy, that gives Georgia the best chance to win, he’s going to be out there.

“It’s just, being in this competition, it’s a blessing. I feel like I’m going to be a better player for it regardless of the outcome.”

Moreover, Vandagriff is a former-five star recruit from the 2021 recruiting cycle, who was also the No. 22 overall recruit in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. In short, he would’ve had plenty of suitors and opportunities throughout the college football world had he decided to enter the transfer portal, but he opted to stay in Athens and compete.

Meanwhile, Beck is no slouch either, a former-four star recruit from the 2020 recruiting cycle, who was also the No. 224 overall recruit in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

Time will tell which quarterback is chosen by Kirby Smart to take over the Bulldogs, but it’s evident Georgia is in good hands regardless.
