Carson Beck credits Georgia offensive line for his big game
Georgia finally looked like Georgia again, defeating Kentucky with ease 51-13 as the Bulldogs’ offensive unit put up 608 yards at home against the Wildcats.
That effort was spearheaded by quarterback Carson Beck, who had over 300 passing yards in the first half alone and finished the game with 389 passing yards to go with four touchdowns. Star tight end Brock Bowers caught seven passes for 132 yards and a touchdown — most of which came on broken coverages and wide-open passes.
Beck said none of it would have been possible without his offensive line dominating in the trenches from the opening whistle.
“Especially tonight I was sitting back [in the pocket] for a while on some plays,” Beck said of his O-Line postgame. “Sometimes the mental blocks come into my head saying that I need to get the ball out but [vs. Kentucky], I was able to hold it for one second, two seconds more. Obviously, it helps when we get guys open.”
Beck now has thrown for at least 310 yards in each of his last three outings against Kentucky, Auburn and UAB, respectively. It seems he is hitting his stride right as Georgia hits the midway point of the season. With not a lot of competiton coming the Bulldogs way until mid-Novemeber — this could become a weekly occurance for the junior quarterback.

On the season, Beck is now No. 2 in passing yards in the SEC with 1,886. His 11-to-3 touchdown-to-interception ratio has room for improvement, but remains one of the most efficeient passers in the country with an 83.3 QBR, good for 12th in the country this season.
“I have standards and goals for myself, but as far as expectations, I just try to go out there and be myself every single game,” Beck went on to say during his media availability on Monday. “I don’t expect to go throw for X amount of yards or X amount of completions. It’s never about the numbers.
“I said this on Saturday, but at the end of the day, it’s about winning. Especially at the quarterback position, that’s a huge thing you put on quarterbacks. How many wins do they have? How many losses do they have? At the end of the day, for our team, I just think it matters that we get out with the win.”
Next up for the Bulldogs is a Noon ET matchup on the road against Vanderbilt. Georgia is a 31.5-point betting favorite entering game week, per Vegas Insider.
