Kirby Smart didn’t have much again in terms of an update on Georgia QB Carson Beck.

In a press conference this morning ahead of the Sugar Bowl on New Year’s Day, Smart spoke about Beck and if there was anything new on his status moving forward. He said there was not as he and the family are still considering all options for him as far as treatment for his elbow.

“The only thing I can update is that they’re still going through those deliberations in terms of decision-making, process time – all the kind of decisions they have to make as a family,” Smart said.

Smart said something pretty similar on Friday while appearing on ‘College GameDay’.

“He and his family have been down in Jacksonville with kind of his team and staff and, really, group of people in his family trying to pursue the best options to go forward,” Smart said. “We’ve talked to him, we’ve communicated with him, and we’re hoping for the best.”

Beck is dealing with an apparent sprain to the UCL in his throwing arm that he suffered on the final play of the first half against Texas in the SEC Championship. With that, it has become increasingly likely that he will miss their quarterfinal against Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff if not the entire postseason with Gunner Stockton set to become QB1 for the ‘Dawgs if so.

The Becks and his representation are still looking into everything in making the best decision for him and his health moving forward. However, essentially none of those will be enough for him at this point to play against the Fighting Irish in New Orleans with kickoff being just over a week out.

Paul Finebaum reveals his level of concern in Georgia without Beck

The Georgia Bulldogs got an extra bye for the playoff but, even with that time off, weren’t able to get Carson Beck back healthy.

Now, with Beck likely out for the Sugar Bowl against Notre Dame, Paul Finebaum shared just how concerned he is for Georgia without its starting quarterback.

“I can easily see them getting in trouble,” Paul Finebaum said on ‘The Matt Barrie Show’. “But we overuse the word resilient. It’s kind of the new catchphrase, but nobody’s been more resilient than Georgia. This team really did have the most impossible schedule and, when you consider it, they had to play Texas twice, they were at Alabama, at Ole Miss, and had Tennessee at home. The fact they only had two losses is pretty remarkable. So, I like Georgia – a slight edge.”

“You have to be worried about Gunner Stockton,” Finebaum said. “I don’t think Carson Beck is related to Quinn Ewers but they’ve had the same type of year. It’s been all over the place. I think that’s what some Georgia fans are gravitating to but, in talking to Kirby Smart on Saturday morning on our show, he feels pretty confident.”
