After leading the Georgia Bulldogs to an impressive 13-1 record in the 2023 season, quarterback Carson Beck had the opportunity to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft if he saw fit. Instead, Beck decided to return to Georgia and lead the Bulldogs on a quest to reclaim their spot at the top of the college football mountain next season. But what all went into his decision-making process?

As Georgia prepares for spring practice, Beck took some time to reveal why he decided to return to the program for another year instead of potentially being a day-one selection in the 2024 NFL Draft.

“Yeah, I mean, we had we had a really good year,” said Beck. “Our goal is always to win it all, as it should be every year for every program. But we didn’t achieve that goal. So [we’re] coming back with that same mindset, and because we didn’t reach that goal, that definitely led to it. And then obviously just the connection piece that we have here at Georgia. The relationship I have with the coaches; the relationship I have with the players. It all just came to me making the decision to come back and wanting to do that for another year.”

While Beck put together an impressive campaign in his first year as the Georgia starter, there were some individuals who thought the sample size of what he could do was a bit too small. Still, the six-foot-four senior quarterback impressed in his first year at the helm after taking over for Stetson Bennett. Back played in starting all 14 games for Georgia, completing 72.4 percent of his pass attempts for 3941 yards, 24 passing touchdowns, and six interceptions. He also tacked on another 117 yards on the ground with four rushing touchdowns.

Back and his Bulldog teammates largely believe that they have unfinished business to resolve next season because of how 2023 ended. Georgia found themselves on the outside looking in of last year’s College Football Playoff after spending the majority of the year as the nation’s top team and defending back-to-back national champions. Ultimately, a loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC championship game derailed Georgia’s hopes of defending their crown.

This year, Beck and Company want to finish the season leaving very little doubt in everyone’s mind just who the best team in college football has been over the past few seasons.
