Georgia had a near-perfect day passing the ball with Carson Beck. He threw for 389 yards and four touchdowns against Kentucky, taking care of business at home. The one interception was the lone mistake made but came late enough to where it did not affect the outcome of the game.

Beck was asked why the Georgia pass game was so effective on Saturday, predictably handing out a lot of credit to his teammates. One thing that stood out to him was the offensive line’s work, giving him “forever” to find an open receiver down the field for huge plays.

“Early on, it felt like nothing could go wrong,” Beck said during a postgame interview with ESPN’s Molly McGrath. “We were completing the ball everywhere. Guys were making plays. Good yards after the catch. I felt like I was holding the ball back there forever, great protection.”

From the get-go, you could tell Beck was in rhythm and ready to go. He completed his first 12 passes of the game. Georgia has been attempting to get off to fast starts as an offense and there is no better way to do so than Beck beginning 12/12.

“One of our things that we’ve been trying to get after is to have a strong start,” Beck said. “Obviously, we haven’t had one. It’s been a huge emphasis for us. So, just try to approach the game a little differently coming into it, having that energy coming out in the first quarter and first half. To be able to have that type of success early was really good for the team.”

Carson Beck explains where his confidence level stands

Kirby Smart has talked about it for a while now– Beck is experiencing being a starter in the SEC for the first time. While there was confidence he would be able to perform from the staff, Beck himself was still attempting to build it up.

The Kentucky result was another positive step for him, even if the interception bugs him a bit. Beck will now have a week to reflect on Saturday’s game before attempting to do it all again against Vanderbilt.

“I feel like it’s in a good place,” Beck said on his confidence level. “It’s just going to continue to improve each game. We’ll go back and watch the film. Nothing is perfect, I had the pick. So, go back, learn, and continue to improve each game.”
