Carson Beck talks career-day against Kentucky, Georgia offense coming into form | UGA Football

Georgia QB Carson Beck has all kinds of weapons to work with in the Bulldog’s pass game. One of those includes WR Rara Thomas considering how he’s able to pop for their offense.

Beck spoke highly of Thomas’ impact within their unit during a press conference on Monday. As his quarterback, he loves Thomas’ ability to make big plays for them, especially since they can come in multiple different situations and including in one-on-one matchups.

“I mean he definitely is capable of making explosive plays. He helps our offense be explosive,” said Beck. “I always say this that we have so many guys and so much depth, especially at the wide receiver position, where, anybody that we put out there, we fully expect them to go out there and make plays.”

“One thing that he did really well in the game was make those contested catches. Some of those third down situations, obviously in the red zone, man-to-man situations where it’s one-on-one,” Beck explained. “It’s him against the DB and there’s nothing else so I’m just going to give him a chance and let him go make a play.”

Thomas had his best game as a Bulldog against Kentucky last weekend with season-highs across the board of five catches for 63 yards, good for 12.3 yards per catch, and his first touchdown of the year. Through six games, that brought his stats up to 14 catches for 230 yards and the one score.

Beck is spoiled with targets like Brock Bowers, Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, and Dominic Lovett. Still, Thomas gives him another gear to work with considering how his catches can come within Georgia’s offense.

Beck gives key to his improved accuracy in 2023

Georgia QB Carson Beck posted his best game as a Bulldog this weekend in a 38-point win over Kentucky. In his opinion, that’s because he is becoming even more acclimated with his teammates and weapons on the offense.

Beck spoke about his high accuracy this season during a press conference on Monday. To him, it boils down to nothing more than chemistry as he is playing more with his targets and starting to understand how they run their routes or where they want the ball.

“I think that’s just a chemistry thing,” Beck said. “As we’re continuing to play and I continue to understand certain guys, the way that they run certain routes? I think that kind of goes to say about the whole accuracy thing.”

Through Georgia’s 6-0 start, Beck is now completing 73.5% of his passes. That was bumped up after Saturday night’s beatdown of the Wildcats as he completed 80% of his passes for 389 yards and four touchdowns.
