Georgia slugger Charlie Condon has been on a historic pace all season long, firmly cementing his legacy as one of the best power hitters in college baseball history. On Thursday evening, Condon added yet another impressive record to his name, blasting a home run for the eighth straight game. It gave him 34 home runs on the 2024 season, giving him the most homers of any player in the BBCOR era and of any player in the 21st century.

Here’s the play where he set the record on Thursday evening.

With the homer, Condon broke Florida star Jac Caglianone’s single-season record of 33 home runs in 2023. If he hits a home run in the each of the next two games, the Georgia star will also shatter the record for the most consecutive games with a home run, pushing his total to 10.

As a team, Georgia has had an impressive season this year, posting an overall record of 35-12. They’ve won five straight games and have posted a record of 28-3 at home.

At this point, it’s amazing that anybody decides to continue to pitch to Condon. But teams continue to do so, despite the predictable consequences. Outside of his incredible dominance at the plate, he’s also made some impressive plays on defense, like this diving tag.

Charlie Condon is in his third season at Georgia. He’s a lock to be one of the top picks in the 2024 MLB Draft. He took a redshirt during his first year in 2022 before going on to put together an impressive freshman campaign this past year (2023). Condon was not only named SEC Freshman and the Year, but also the National Freshman of the Year. He hit 25 home runs and records 67 RBIs while batting .386. It was one of the greatest seasons in school history, capturing the team’s Triple Crown. Georgia went 29-27 that year, advancing to the SEC Tournament.

In high school, Condon played for The Walker School (Marietta, Georgia). He helped guide the Wolverines advance to the Sweet Sixteen of the state playoffs as a senior. A four year-starter, Condon led his team in several different stat categories, including hits, RBIs, and doubles. As a junior, he posted an impressive batting average of .515. A dynamic athlete in high school, he was also a four-year letterman in football, starting at quarterback in the final three years.
