Charlie Condon makes incredible dive to tag third base for out vs. Georgia Tech
Georgia star Charlie Condon made an incredible play when his team needed him to Saturday against rival Georgia Tech. With the game tied 1-1 and two outs in the top of the seventh, the Yellow Jackets hit a ground ball down the third base line.
Condon went all out the make the dive to stop the ball, the sprinted back to and dove again to tag third base to end the inning. It helped the Bulldogs get out of a sticky situation, as the bases would have been loaded had he not made the play. You can view the moment below.
Georgia would go on to take a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the inning after Fernando Gonzalez hit a solo home run. Then, Condon would later get on base via walk and eventually score another run in the eighth inning to make it a 3-1 advantage for the Bulldogs.
That would end up being the final score as Georgia secured the final three outs in the top of the ninth to earn the victory.
The Bulldogs defense was impressive all afternoon to allow just four hits with only one error. Condon finished the game with four putouts, ranking third on the team behind Gonzalez (nine) and Logan Jordan (seven).
Georgia’s pitchers combined to strike out nine batters as Josh Roberge earned the win. Christian Mracna got the start while Brian Zeldin pitched the final 1.1 innings to record the save.

The Bulldogs didn’t fare much better offensively as they had only seven hits in what was a game dominated by defense. Tre Phelps led the team to go 2-for-3 at the plate with one RBI.
Charlie Condon is in his third season at Georgia. He took a redshirt during his first year in 2022 before going on to put together an impressive freshman campaign this past year. Condon was not only named SEC Freshman and the Year, but also the National Freshman of the Year. He hit 25 home runs and records 67 RBIs while batting .386.
Condon has continued to impress this season not only at the plate, but also defensively with plays like the one he had Saturday. He’s sure to be a big part of the Bulldogs’ chances at making a run this season.
Georgia improved to 9-1 on the young season with the win and will close out the series against Georgia Tech at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday.
