Dan Jackson confirms he will pursue NFL after Georgia's season ends
This time of year, college football players are often thinking about their future. For Georgia Bulldogs defensive back Dan Jackson, that future is going to be pursuing his dreams at the NFL level once the Bulldogs’ season comes to an end.
Jackson shared that the goal down the road is to make it to the NFL. However, for the time being, his focus is on the task at hand with Georgia.
“Yes, sir, yep,” Dan Jackson said. “That was the goal. That was one of the goals I had for myself. Obviously right now just focused on this game and finishing out and trying to win another national championship. But that’s the goal, yep.”
Dan Jackson was a member of the Class of 2019, where he was an unranked recruit. At the time, he began as a member of Georgia’s scout team and took a redshirt. From there, he began working his way into the shuffle on the defensive side of the ball. By 2021, he started four games and played in 15 and while he’s battled injuries since, he’s become a key player on the defense and has since even earned a spot on the Senior Bowl watchlist.
For his career, Jackson has played in 45 total games and has made 132 total tackles and five tackles for a loss. He has four career interceptions and five career passes defended.
Still, the focus is on Georgia’s goals this season. That means going on a deep run in the College Football Playoff and winning the SEC Championship Game. That SEC Championship Game is going to be against the Texas Longhorns, who the Bulldogs already had a dominant win against on the road in October.

The Longhorns could be bringing wrinkles to the game. In particular, finding a way to use young quarterback Arch Manning as a change of pace to Quinn Ewers. Still, Dan Jackson feels that Georgia is going to be prepared for whatever Texas throws at them.
“Yeah, I think first and foremost, they come from a great program. They’re both really smart guys. Nobody’s the exact same. We’re definitely going to be watching a lot of film this week, like we have in the past. We’re just going to be ready for both of them. They’re both great athletes, yeah,” Jackson said.
“I mean, right now, based off of what we’ve seen, you could say that. Both of them, like I said, are great athletes. We’ll be ready for both of them.”
Regardless of whether or not Georgia beats Texas, the Bulldogs expect to be in the College Football Playoff. However, a win would secure them a first round bye in the Playoff.
