Deion Sanders sends congratulatory message to Georgia star Lewis Cine after being drafted
Deion Sanders may be the head coach at Jackson State, but that doesn’t mean he’s not a fan of players from other schools.
As the 2022 NFL Draft officially got underway on Thursday night in Las Vegas, Georgia safety Lewis Cine was selected No. 32 overall by the Minnesota Vikings in the first round – and Coach Prime was happy to see it.
Taking to his Twitter account on Friday morning, Sanders sent a congratulatory message to Cine as he takes his game to the next level.
“God bless @LewisCine he flat out earned EVERYTHING he has and gonna received,” Sanders wrote in his tweet. “Great young man that has a bright bright future ahead of him. Be frugal my brother but take care of you. #CoachPrime.”
Cine – a former On3 Consensus four-star recruit – put together a standout career at Georgia, making 144 total tackles over three seasons with the Bulldogs.

Minnesota Vikings select Georgia safety Lewis Cine in 2022 NFL Draft
The Minnesota Vikings are banking on Georgia product Lewis Cine to come in and transform their secondary. He did it throughout his time in Athens, and the former Bulldogs safety will be expected to do the same in his NFL career. That’s why the Vikings took him off the board early in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft on Thursday night, picking him No. 32 overall.
During his time with the Bulldogs, Cine elevated his game consistently, leading an exceptional Georgia defense as part of a tremendous secondary. Last season, Cine realized his dream of bringing a championship to Georgia, helping to end a drought that spanned over 40 years when the Bulldogs defeated Alabama in the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship Game.
Additionally, the former Georgia star received the gigantic honor of being named the 2022 National Championship Defensive MVP for his efforts against the Crimson Tide.
