Dillon Bell injury: Georgia WR leaves game vs. Tennessee
Georgia wide receiver Dillon Bell has left Saturday’s game against Tennessee due to an injury. Trainers met Bell on the field before accompanying him into the medical tent on the sideline. While the Georgia offense has found some momentum in the second quarter, losing Bell would be a big blow.
Bell was injured on a play where he took a handoff from quarterback Carson Beck, putting Georgia inside the two-yard line. He was able to hobble across some of the field but eventually went down to the ground.
Three touches have gone Bell’s way, one being on the ground and two others through the air. His yardage total sits at 14 yards as offensive coordinator Mike Bobo has found some different ways to get Bell involved.
UPDATE — ESPN’s Holly Rowe provided a sideline report on Bell, giving the latest information. He is heading back to the Georgia locker room just ahead of halftime, needing help to get off the field.

“Dillon Bell has been taken to the Georgia locker room,” Rowe said. “We saw him come down awkwardly on that play in the end zone. They were examining his high ankle and lower shin area. As he was limping off the sideline, he was very emotional. I’m told he is out for now as they do further evaluations. This is a big loss, they had a ton in the offense for him as a Swiss army knife. Not sure who can fill all those roles now that he is out.”
Georgia will now have to play the rest of this game without one of their top targets. This will be as important of a second half Georgia has played this season, likely needing a win to keep their chances of making the College Football Playoff alive.
Bell’s long-term status will certainly be a question for Kirby Smart moving forward. Two nonconference games remain on the schedule, facing UMass and Georgia Tech to close out the year.
