Dominic Lovett explains why he came to Georgia, how he's fitting in with the Bulldogs

After playing two years for the SEC East’s Missouri Tigers, wide receiver Dominic Lovett hopped into the NCAA Transfer Portal and joined the Georgia Bulldogs; the top program in the division and conference. When it came to making his decision on where to play this season, Georgia was a no-brainer for Lovett, and recently, he explained why.

“Well, I felt that Georgia had a strong connection with me as soon as I entered the portal,” said Lovett. “When I came down here and they showed me around, the personality, nutrition, and academics, it was basically everything that I was looking for in a program. Their standard, of course, how they develop young men and send them to the league, that has been at a very high level. Coach Smart, (and) the coaching staff; everything was everything that I wanted.

“The transition has been great, exciting, actually. New people to meet, new friends, new brothers to be around, and that was really like the main part. As far as my growth, I could say from the weight room to on the field, everything has just gotten better. I’m just stacking days, day in and day out.”

Lovett joins a stacked offense that includes fellow wide receiver Ladd McConkey and star tight end Brock Bowers. With the coaching staff and pieces around him, if making it to the next level is his goal, he picked the perfect place to do so at Georgia under Coach Smart.

Kirby Smart addresses how Georgia will define success in 2023

After leading Georgia to back-to-back national championship wins, you’d think it’s safe to say that hoisting yet another national championship trophy to end the 2023 season is the standard for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs.

But Smart recently said that’s not the case. In an interview with Rece Davis and Pete Thamel, Smart was asked how he’ll define success with this year’s team, with Davis mentioning that the Bulldogs have now reached the level where it seems to be national championship or bust.

“Well you say that, not me. I don’t think it’s national championship or bust, I don’t think any coach could ever say that that’s truly what it is. That’s not believable to me, it’s not probably sustainable,” Smart said.

Smart and the Bulldogs have surely made it look sustainable the last two seasons, displaying dominance in the tough SEC conference and in the postseason in the College Football Playoff. And while their winning ways may have become the standard for outsiders looking in, Smart’s definition of success has more to do with his team reaching it’s maximum potential.
