5-star EDGE Eddrick Houston back at Georgia for another visit
Buford (Ga.) five-star EDGE Eddrick Houston will be back at Georgia for an unofficial visit on Tuesday, he told On3.
The trip will be his first to Athens since he visited in January for the Bulldogs’ national championship celebration. In between, he’s made stops at Tennessee, Clemson and Alabama among others, as multiple top programs battle for him.
He feels like a “major priority” to the Bulldogs and speaks with multiple coaches daily, including head coach Kirby Smart and defensive line coach Tray Scott.
“Just development, they’re able to produce top draft picks year in and year out,” Houston told On3 earlier this year. “It’s just amazing to see, just going there whenever I can and seeing the work that the athletes put in every day and things like that.”
Shakeup in top schools over the past few months
The 6-foot-3, 255-pound pass rusher announced his top 10 schools back in November. Things have changed since then, with both Michigan and USC joining the fray in his recruitment.
The Trojans in particular have have made a strong impression on him.
“USC is one of the schools I would want to add on,” Houston said. “Southern California, it’s just the relationship I’ve built already with them, with coach (Shaun) Nua, the defensive line coach. His background, just being able to develop kids, is great.”
Still on the docket for visits this spring are both LSU and Texas, with the Longhorns continuing to pursue to the nation’s No. 3 EDGE. His most recent visit came earlier this week, when he stopped at Alabama. The Crimson Tide are another program he wants to build a deeper relationship with.

His primary points of contact are outside linebackers coach/special teams coordinator Coleman Hutzler and cornerbacks coach Travaris Robinson.
“Just to see how they respond to change,” Houston said about why Alabama intrigues him. “They’re a top-notch program every year. Just to see that they’re constantly getting new coaches in and taking coaches out, just things like that, just being able to see how they still roll is an amazing thing to watch.”
Houston loves what he’s seen from the local school
Houston watched Georgia’s 65-7 win over TCU in the College Football Playoff National Championship. He took notice of the Bulldogs’ dominant defense, especially the defensive line. He sees the development of elite defensive linemen Jalen Carter and Mykel Williams, two players he can see himself in the mold of.
Arguably more than anything though, Georgia’s continued drive for titles and excellence on the field makes them that much more impressive.
“(I’m) really impressed to see how he (Kirby Smart) keeps building year in and year out, no matter (what),” Houston said. “They get different kids from different states, they recruit hard. They love their recruits and that’s how they’re able to get the players they need in and the players that they think will help contribute.”
