Rising freshman Tyler Atkinson recently decided to play his high school football at Grayson in Loganville. He will do so as one of the rising names early on in the class of 2026. He recently competed as a high schooler, despite only being an eighth-grader at Atlanta’s Under Armour Camp.

Atkinson now holds an offer from his ‘dream school’.

Georgia offered the eighth-grade edge on Tuesday evening. Atkinson already had offers from Akron and Georiga Tech. The Georgia offer is a special one. Atkinson is originally from Tennessee. He’s followed the Bulldogs since. He watched them closely as they raced to a national championship in January.

“It feels amazing,” Atkinson said. “Georgia is my dream school. I really love Georgia. It’s a great experience and I’m glad they believe in me… Ever since I moved down to Georgia I’ve liked how they’ve played. I knew they had a national championship-caliber team. For them to win the national championship last year that’s big. That makes me like them even more.”

Last weekend Atkinson got a chance to head to Baton Rouge and visit LSU. He enjoyed his first trip to Baton Rouge.

“It was an amazing experience,” Atkinson said. “They really showed love down there. It was a good feeling.”

Tyler Atkinson set to join long-standing tradition for high-profile recruits

Atkinson will play high school football at Georgia powerhouse Grayson. He knows the competition will be fierce on a daily basis. Grayson features On3 Consensus four-stars Michael Daugherty, and linebacker Jalen Smith. The program is home to a boatload of 2024 stars with college futures.

“I’m looking to work hard, stay on top and compete,” Atkinson said. “I look up to them. They’re very good and they work hard. I’m not going to a team that just play football just to play. These guys want to make it to the big leagues, so that makes me work even harder.”

Humility will stay high on the list of priorities for Atkinson. He hasn’t played a snap of high school football. He holds a strong grasp that the work must come first.

“I’m just going to keep my head down and let no distractions get to me,” Atkinson said. “I’m going to keep working and keep believing in myself.”
