WR Dominic Lovett went ahead and made an SEC East switch this offseason with his decision to transfer from Missouri to Georgia through the portal. Still, down at the SEC Spring Meetings in Destin, Tiger head coach Eli Drinkwitz had nothing but positive things to say about his former receiver.

Drinkwitz kept his compliments of Lovett short during his press conference. Even so, he got the point across that the ‘Dawgs are getting both a very good football player and a very good person.

“A really good player. A great young man, a high-character man,” said Drinkwitz. “(He) works really hard. (He), obviously, was really good for us.”

Lovett spent two seasons with Missouri after committing to them as a four-star prospect and Top-50 receiver in the 2021 class per On3’s Industry Rankings.

In total, Lovett caught 82 passes for just over 1,000 receiving yards and three touchdowns in Columbia. As a sophomore, he led Mizzou in both catches (56) and reception yards (846). He also finished second in touchdowns with his three behind only Luther Burden III with six.

Per On3’s Transfer Portal Rankings, Burden was the No. 6 wide receiver available in the portal. He also finished as the No. 10 available player overall during this offseason’s portal cycle.

Now, after a pair of seasons with Drinkwitz’s Tigers, he is now in Athens preparing to kelp Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs repeat. That should make for quite the interesting revenge game between the two schools when the reigning champs host Missouri on November 4th inside Sanford Stadium.

Kamari Lassiter happy to see Thomas, Lovett on his sideline now

Georgia Bulldogs DB Kamari Lassiter has enjoyed going to spring practice this year thanks to the program’s additions from the transfer portal. Georgia added a pair of former SEC rival wideouts in, Rara Thomas from Mississippi State and Dominic Lovett from Missouri.

Lassiter’s excitement with the addition of Lovett and Thomas is twofold. He enjoys the fact that the duo is now on the same roster as him, and he loves that he gets to compete with them every practice, making Georgia spring practices highly competitive. During a recent press conference, Lassiter went into detail on both of those topics.

“Well, I’m glad that they’re my teammates now. Those guys are really good players,” said Lassiter. “Guarding them last year, I had to watch a lot of film on both those guys, just to make sure I was on my A-game. But bringing them to Georgia, it just increases the intensity of practicing. The competition level between the receivers and the DBs — that’s some things guys like me — [they’re] ultra-competitive guys; I like that. I want the best guys to be here, and they wanna go against the best guys as well. So, just those guys being here, it’s really good for us.

Lovett totaled 846 yards and three touchdowns for the Tigers this year before entering the portal on December 5th. Meanwhile, Thomas also had an impressive season in the late-Mike Leach’s air raid offense, hauling in 44 receptions for 626 yards and seven touchdowns.
