2024 5-star CB Ellis Robinson IV commits to Georgia: 'It just felt like home'
New Haven (Conn.) IMG Academy five-star cornerback Ellis Robinson IV announced a top five of Alabama, Colorado, Georgia, LSU and Miami on Dec. 31. More than a month later, his decision came down to the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide.
Robinson IV returned to Athens on Jan. 14 and called Georgia “the top runner for me.” That did not change, as the 6-foot-1, 185-pound defensive back committed to the Bulldogs on Wednesday.
“My mind is 100% locked in on Georgia,” Robinson IV told On3. “I knew Georgia was home when I was on my second visit to Athens. It just felt like home. I have known for a while that Georgia was it.”
When Robinson is on the Bulldogs’ campus, he can sense something “different.” Even though he has another year of high school football, the five-star already feels part of the Georgia brotherhood.
“I am close with the coaches and all of the dudes in Athens,” said Robinson IV, the No. 2 overall prospect and No. 1 cornerback in the 2024 On300. “The coaches have all gotten to know me and are really bought into me. It is not just the defensive staff, but the offensive coaches and everyone around the program. They all have welcomed me, made me feel like family and that is the best feeling for me.”

Robinson IV close with Georgia coaches, ready to help recruit
Head coach Kirby Smart and defensive backs coach Fran Brown were key factors in Robinson IV’s decision.
“We have a great connection,” Robinson IV said of Brown. “He gets me. I get him. We have great talks. Every day we talk about life. It is not just football with coach Brown. It feels good to have that type of connection with the coach I know can push me and help my game go to that next level.”
“Coach Smart has Georgia winning,” he added about the Bulldogs’ head man. “I don’t know how else to say it. Coach Smart is a great dude that is easy to talk to, but at the same time, he leads the program and makes each player the best they can be. I am going to Georgia to win championships and I know coach Smart is going to give me that chance. He is that coach I am excited to talk to and be around, then play for too.”
Now that Robinson IV is committed, he plans to focus on recruiting other talented prospects to Georgia. He mentioned Chandler (Ariz.) Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Dylan Raiola, Buford (Ga.) five-star safety KJ Bolden and his teammates at IMG Academy.
“I am done,” Robinson IV said. “My decision is made. I can relax, play my senior year and recruit.”
