ESPN analysts debate whether Georgia can 3-peat, what game could ruin its chances in 2023
Joining Get Up live from SEC Media Days, Paul Finebaum shared his views this week on the possibility of a three-peat by the Georgia Bulldogs this season.
The last team to win three straight national titles was Minnesota in the 1930s.
“Absolutely,” Finebaum said. “I think they have the best team coming in. There’s a little bit of uneasiness at quarterback, however, they are loaded everywhere else. This might be one of the most talented teams we’ve seen in recent years. That’s saying a lot, considering what Alabama has had.
“But I think Georgia has one of the easiest schedules of all time. They had Oklahoma on the schedule, got knocked off when OU and Texas came to the SEC, and won’t be tested until Tennessee in November. They’ll be in Atlanta and they’ll be in the College Football Playoff.”
Despite having all the faith that Georgia has what it takes to accomplish the task, Finebaum still thinks something will derail them one way or another.
“After having said all that, I don’t think Georgia is going to do what no one has done,” Finebaum previously said on Monday.

Heather Dinich: Tennessee could hurt Georgia’s CFP chances
College Football Playoff analyst Heather Dinich believes Georgia’s easy non-conference schedule could hurt them in the long run, as well as a late November date with Tennessee.
“Paul touched on it a minute ago, it’s the schedule,” Dinich said. “Non-conference they have UT Martin, Ball State, UAB and Georgia Tech, if they don’t win that game against Tennessee, I promise you, the CFP selection committee will put that under the microscope and it will be an issue for Georgia if they don’t win their division.”
Although the Bulldogs could be heavily penalized if they drop a game in their division, they would still have the opportunity at redemption in the SEC championship game. A win there almost guarantees a spot in the CFP.
Which teams could stop Georgia once they get to the CFP? Finebaum has three main contenders.
“There are a couple of teams that a possibility or a chance at it,” Finebaum said Monday from Media Days. “I think, within the SEC, Alabama would be the best bet. That does not take a rocket scientist, which I’m not, to come up with. Outside, I like Ohio State. There’s still an issue about how the quarterback situation will land. Other than that, they probably have as much talent, if not more, as anyone in the country. If you’re looking for a wildcard, certainly Southern Cal with the Heisman Trophy winner (in) Caleb Williams.”
