LOOK: Jordan Davis posts touching tribute to Devin Willock, Chandler LeCroy
Former University of Georgia defensive lineman and current Philadelphia Eagle Jordan Davis shared a heartfelt message via Twitter following the tragic passing of Georgia offensive lineman Devin Willock and recruiting staff member Chandler LeCroy early Sunday morning.
“Heartbroken Fr, Watching them grow and become like family over these few years. There is no grief without love, and we love both of you like family,” Davis tweeted.
Davis and Willock were teammates at Georgia for the 2020 and 2021 seasons, and likely lined up across from each other at practice from their respective defensive tackle and offensive tackle positions.
Willock was 20-years-old and a Paramus, New Jersey native who spent the last three seasons with the Bulldogs. He started two games for Georgia last season and was a part of both of their most recent National Championship teams, and was described by Bulldog’s head coach Kirby Smart as, “… an outstanding young man in every way and was always smiling. He was a great teammate and a joy to coach.” And regarding LeCroy said, “Chandler was a valuable member of our football staff and brought an incredible attitude and energy every single day.”
New details emerge on fatal car crash involving Georgia OL Devin Willock, recruiting staffer Chandler LeCroy
New details have emerged regarding a car crash that killed Georgia offensive lineman Devin Willock and recruiting staffer Chandler LeCroy early Sunday morning. According to the Athens Banner-Herald, two other members of the football program were also in the vehicle and suffered injuries.
Offensive tackle Warren McClendon and recruiting staffer Tory Bowles were the other passengers. They were both taken to the hospital for their injuries and, thankfully, are said to be in stable condition. McClendon’s injuries are reportedly minor, whereas Bowles’ are more serious.
LeCroy was the driver of the vehicle, a 2021 Ford Expedition, which was traveling southbound on Barrett Shoals Road before leaving the road and striking two power poles along with several trees. Police responded at 2:45 a.m. Willock died at the scene, while LeCroy was taken to a local hospital before passing away.

The car crash occurred 12 hours after Georgia celebrated its recent national championship with a victory parade and event at Sanford Stadium.
“We are covering the families of Devin Willock and Chandler LeCroy in prayer this morning,” athletic director Josh Brooks said in a statement. “We are deeply saddened on the tragic loss of Devin and Chandler, and we will continue to honor their memory in the years to come. These two special people meant the world to our football program and athletic department. We are working with our medical staff and mental health and performance team to ensure our staff and student-athletes have all the support they need during this extremely difficult time.”
Willock, a New Jersey native, had just wrapped up his third season at Georgia, where he appeared in all 15 games and started two of them. LeCroy was a UGA graduate with a masters in sports management and policy.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing as to the cause of the crash which was the first fatal motor vehicle crash in 2023 in Athens-Clarke County.
