Four-Star ATH Demello Jones commits to Georgia

Four-star athlete Demello Jones of Swainsboro (GA) High announced his commitment to Georgia Friday afternoon.

The 6-foot-1, 180 pounder chose the Bulldogs over Alabama, Tennessee, Ohio State, and others.

Jones on why he chose Georgia

“Georgia is building a powerhouse that will go on forever and I want to be a part of that,” Jones said. “And also being in-state is a great thing to play for a big college in my state.”

Relationship with coaching staff stood out 

“The whole coaching staff has nothing but positive energy,” Jones said. “Coach Fran and I have the closest relationship and we text and talk everyday.”

What it means to stay home to Demello Jones

“It means a lot to be able to play at my home state and put on for where I’m from.”

The Peach State athlete joins coach Smart and the Bulldogs’ No.1 ranked class in the 2024 team rankings. He is accompanied by Peyton Woodyard, Landen Thomas, and others.

Jones ranks as the No. 156 player in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also tabs in as the No. 7 athlete and the No. 27 player in the state of Georgia.

Demello Jones currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $89K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
