Four-Star DL Jamaal Jarrett commits to Georgia
Four-star defensive lineman Jamaal Jarrett of Greensboro (NC) Grimsley High announced his commitment to Georgia Tuesday afternoon.
The 6-foot-5, 365 pounder chose the Bulldogs over North Carolina and Auburn.
Jarrett on why he chose Georgia
“What really led me to The University Of Georgia sas the coaching and recruiting staff,” Jarrett said. “My family really embraced the support and love from the staff. Personally, I loved the defensive line group and can see myself playing with them. I really enjoy the whole development program they work with, and have a lot of love and respect for coach Tray Scott, coach Carson Hall, and of course coach Smart himself. I believe that going to Georgia will not only make me a better man of God, but it will help me become an even better student athlete and player.”
Georgia’s plan for Jamaal Jarrett
“After sitting with coach Scott, the University of Georgia would use me and a mobile 0/3tech/ shade / 2 technique,” Jarrett said. “I’d pretty much be the big run stopper that can line up in various spots on the line of scrimmage. Very similar to the schemes Jordan Davis was set up in.”
The North Carolina DL joins coach Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs’ top 5 class alongside A.J. Harris, Raylen Wilson, and others.

Jamaal Jarrett Scouting Summary
“One of the bigger defensive line prospects in the 2023 cycle,” On3’s Director of Scouting Charles Power wrote. “Measured at 6-foot-5 and around 365 pounds prior to his senior season. Strong, physical interior presence who overwhelms smaller offensive linemen with his girth and strength. Can forklift offensive linemen into the backfield when he plays with good pad level. A pure pocket pusher. Shows effort in running down plays in pursuit.”
“Lacks ideal length at the position. Could also potentially play interior offensive line long-term. Does not test as a top athlete in the combine setting and could see some gains on that front as he reshapes his body at the college level. Significantly younger for the class, turning 17 years old in July prior to his senior season.”
Jarrett ranks as the No. 154 player in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that accounts for all four major recruiting sites. He also tabs in as the No. 20 defensive lineman and the No.3 player in the state of North Carolina.
