Georgia 4-star CB commit Demello Jones shuts down recruitment
There is no question as to where Swainsboro (Ga.) four-star cornerback Demello Jones will be playing college football next season.
Jones, a Georgia commit since March 17, posted on social media Saturday night that he has shut down his recruitment. Former defensive backs coach Fran Brown was named Syracuse head coach on November 28. Brown was a key part of Jones’ recruitment, but Jones remains locked in with the Bulldogs.
“I am shutting down my recruitment and I’m 100% locked in with UGA,” he told On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons.
Jones is the nation’s No. 62 overall prospect in the 2024 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is the cycle’s No. 7 cornerback and No. 11 recruit from Georgia.
On3 rates Jones higher than every other major recruiting service. He is the No. 57 prospect in the 2024 On300.

“I’m also big on my family being able to watch me play, and the fact that they can make a day trip seven to eight times a year to watch me was huge,” Jones told On3 when he committed. “My mom is my everything and the fact that she’ll be able to come to see me most of the season played a huge role in my decision.
… The last thing is the education is second to none in the country. I’m going to be able to receive a top-notch degree all while competing for and winning National Championships on a yearly basis.”
