Georgia Bulldogs star Braelen Bridges tested the 2022 NBA Draft waters following the conclusion of the 2021-2022 season. He maintained his collegiate eligibility while getting feedback from the NBA, and now Bridges has made a major announcement, updating his future plans.

“Dawg Nation, this past year was a blessing to play in front of great fans and to be a part of Dawg Nation, but it wasn’t the way I wanted to end my college career,” Bridges tweeted. “Thank you to my family and friends who helped with my decision. One last chapter. Go Dawgs!

“After receiving helpful feedback from the NBA… I’M BACK!!”

Last season was the first for Bridges at Georgia after spending two years at UIC. He started all 32 games on the year, averaging 28.2 minutes per game. Bridges was Georgia’s second leading scorer, averaging 12.9 points per game. He also ranked second on the team with 5.6 rebounds per game, and also posted 1.9 assists per contest. On the year, Bridges shot 63.4% from the field and 73.4% from the free throw line. He did not attempt any three pointers.

Bridges returning is a good sign for new Georgia coach Mike White

Bridges wasn’t a sure bet to come back to Georgia next season, but his decision to do so is a great development for new Georgia head coach Mike White. The Bulldogs have had a ton of players enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, with as many as eight in at one point.

When White took the Georgia job, he saw promise in the pieces on the roster. With Bridges back and room to add more around him, White is feeling good about his new gig.

“Everything that I was looking for, everything that I wanted to hear, I have heard and I have seen, that continued today throughout all the meetings that I’ve had with these administrators,” White said. “Had a really productive day and I feel like, to a certain extent, that we’ve hit the ground running. We’ve got a lot of work to do obviously and as a family, we’ve got to get settled, we’ve got to get a staff in place and get a little bit of normalcy but once we do, I’m going to be about as happy a camper as there is.”
