Carson Beck on his improvement during the 2023 season: 'It's not even the same quarterback'
Despite having just one season as a starter under his belt, many regard Georgia quarterback Carson Beck as the nation’s best at the position ahead of the upcoming college football season. Now entering year two as the Bulldogs’ QB1 in yet another season where expectations are high in Athens.
At SEC Media Days, Beck was asked about his progression during last season as he seemingly got better game after game. Able to stay healthy throughout the entire season as he’ll look to do the same in 2024 and continuing growing as a quarterback.
“I think when you have such a good offensive line, I think we have a very strong offensive line, one of the best in the country if not the best in my opinion,” Beck said. “It helps me to be able to stay healthy.”
“But as far as the quarterback goes, I think over the course of last year if you go look at game one and then you go look at game 14, it’s not even the same quarterback.”
Throughout last season Beck’s accuracy and efficiency noticeably showed steady improvement. Ending the year with college football’s fourth-best completion percentage at 72.4% and with the third most passing yards in the country with 3,941 to also lead the SEC. Throwing 24 touchdowns and just six interceptions with even more room to improve this season.

“Making the decision to come back this year, I’m excited to see what the progression from game 15 to whatever X amount of games I play this year is gonna look like,” Beck said. “Each game more confidence gets built and that repetition continues to happen and you just become more comfortable within your offense, and with your teammates, and during the game. So very excited to see that progression.”
Beck getting even better this upcoming season would be a nightmare for opposing defenses and something to rejoice over for Georgia fans. Leading the Bulldogs to a 13-1 record to continue their three-year reign of dominance where they’ve lost just two total games (both SEC Championship games to Alabama).
Wins are nice, but national championships are now the expectation at Georgia. And if an improved Beck can lead the Bulldogs to one, it’d surely cement his legacy and likely boost his NFL Draft stock immensely in the process. Already regarded as one of the top overall prospects for the 2025 NFL Draft.
