LOOK: Georgia Bulldogs congratulate Atlanta Braves in style
The Georgia Bulldogs sent their congratulations to the newly crowned MLB World Series champs, the Atlanta Braves. The Bulldogs sent the Braves a congratulatory tweet on Twitter highlighting the four games in which they won to beat the Houston Astros.
Atlanta was able to quiet the big bats of Houston in all four games that they won. In games one and four, the Braves allowed just two runs apiece. In their other two victories, they blanked the Astros, resulting in an average of one run scored per game in their four victories. This World Series victory is the first one for the Braves since 1995. And it ended their streak of most consecutive postseason appearances not leading to a title at 16. The Georgia Bulldogs were one of many Georgia-based teams to celebrate their state’s new champions.
Georgia on top of the CFP world
The College Football Playoff committee on Tuesday released the first edition of its rankings, and to no one’s surprise, the 8-0 Georgia Bulldogs and its stifling defense took the No. 1 overall ranking.
Kirby Smart and the best-in-show Georgia Bulldogs defense in Week 9 proved once again why they are considered college football’s No. 1 team, as Georgia steamrolled the Florida Gators, 34-7. As the Bulldogs’ hot streak continues, the gap between Georgia and the No. 2 team — Alabama, according to the College Football Playoff committee, and Cincinnati, according to the AP poll — continues to get bigger, according to ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit.

“Well through eight weeks, it’s pretty obvious, it’s a pretty big gap right now — the defense alone,” Herbstreit said on ESPN’s College Football Playoff ranking show. “Stetson Bennett, he’s just trying to hold on to the reins there and not lose the game on that side of the ball. I think [Georgia offensive coordinator] Todd Monken’s doing a great job with the offense playing complementary football. But yeah, for now, it doesn’t mean they can’t lose but for now, without a doubt, there’s Georgia and then there’s everybody else.”
The Bulldogs will look to follow in the footsteps of the Atlanta Braves and take home their leagues championship. They are number one in both the AP Poll and the College Football Playoff rankings. Georgia has looked the part of a true national championship contender all season long thanks to their formidable defense. But only time will tell if the Bulldogs can break their national championship drought as their neighbors did in Atlanta.
