Former Georgia Bulldogs stars Jordan Davis and Devonte Wyatt showed out at the 2022 NFL Draft Combine, as the duo both ran extremely fast 40-yard dash times and increased their draft stock as as a result.

And to prove just how fast Davis and Wyatt were this week, NFL posted an overlaid video that shows Wyatt and Davis running the 40-yard dash next to two previous competitors — both of whom are now NFL All-Pros — in Aaron Donald and JJ Watt.

Wyatt and Davis, who finished the 40-yard dash in 4.77 seconds and 4.78 seconds, respectively, finished just between Donald and Watt. Donald ran his 40-yard dash in 4.68 seconds, while Watt ran his in 4.91 seconds.

Davis’ official 40-yard dash time is the fastest ever at the event by a player over 340 pounds and by a good margin. The second fastest time ever run by a player that big was run by Dontari Poe of Memphis, who ran a 4.98 40-yard dash back in 2012.

Davis was the 2021 winner of the Outland Trophy, given annually to college football’s top interior lineman, and the Chuck Bednarik Award, given annually to college football’s best defensive player. He was also a consensus first-team All American and a unanimous All-SEC selection. The former Georgia defensive lineman was also a finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and for the Lott IMPACT Trophy.

During the 2021 campaign, Davis racked up 32 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and a pass breakup in his final season. Davis also had two carries for two yards and a touchdown.

Wyatt, on the other hand, also caught the attention of the NFL world after running an impressive 40-yard dash. Also weighing in over 300 pounds (Wyatt is 304), he showed off his deceptive speed in the 2022 NFL Combine.

Wyatt has seen a rise on NFL big boards

In ESPN NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper’s latest mock draft, he had Wyatt being selected with the 25th overall pick by the Buffalo Bills. Ever since the Senior Bowl, Wyatt has been on an upward trajectory. ESPN experts Todd McShay and Jeremy Fowler went in-depth on Wyatt’s rise after the Senior Bowl, which they believe solidified his status as a first round pick.

“It was interesting to see Wyatt command the attention of spectators this week,” Fowler said. “His power and quickness were evident.”

“Some defensive linemen are all hands,” added McShay. “Some are all about quickness and speed. But Wyatt ties his feet and hands together so well. His feet are always moving while he’s working on blockers with his upper-body strength. He was already in the first-round conversation coming into the Senior Bowl, but he put a stamp on it this week.”

There are a few quality defensive linemen in this year’s draft class. And on a loaded defensive front at Georgia, it would be easy to overlook Wyatt. But McShay called Wyatt “the most consistent performer” on that unit for the Bulldogs, and believes that he may be among the best in this year’s draft.
