Georgia linebacker Channing Tindall makes decision on NFL future

Georgia Bulldogs linebacker Channing Tindall will be moving onto the NFL he announced via Twitter on Monday. The fourth-year linebacker is the latest player to take the next step after winning the national championship just a week ago.

Tindall was the third leading tackler for Georgia this season with 67. He added on 7.5 tackles for a loss, 5.5 sacks, and a forced fumble. The AP recognized Tindall’s efforts on the year by voting him second-team All-SEC.

In his announcement, Tindall penned a letter, thanking everyone who helped him during his career in Athens.

“I don’t even know where to begin,” Tindall said. These have been the greatest four years of my life. First, I would like to thank God for the blessings you have bestowed upon me. Thank you to my family, for your unconditional support. I want to thank my coaches for setting the standard. To Coach Schu for helping to mold me into the player I am today. Having the opportunity to wear this G across my chest is an honor that I don’t take lightly.”

Tindall was a four-star prospect on the On3 Consensus coming out of high school. Being a member of the 2018 recruiting class, Tindall was the No. 8 linebacker in the country and the No. 2 prospect to come out of the state of South Carolina. On the national level, he ranked at No. 71.

Georgia Bulldogs QB enters the transfer portal

Georgia backup quarterback JT Daniels is planning to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to a report from Mike Griffith of DawgNation.

The move would not be completely out of left field after the quarterback’s rollercoaster year in Athens.

In four starts to end the 2020 season, Daniels threw for 1,231 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart declared the former five-star the starter during spring practice. That was reaffirmed going into fall camp, and Daniels started the Bulldogs’ season opener against No. 3 Clemson, leading them to a 10-3 victory.

Then, Daniels missed a start with an oblique injury, and Stetson Bennett started in his place. Bennett, who started five games in 2020 before losing his starting spot to Daniels, threw for a school-record five touchdowns, all of which came in the first half.

However, Daniels was healthy enough to return and play the next two games, putting up a combined 432 passing yards, five touchdowns and a total of 75 points on the board in just five quarters of action. Finally, he was once again sidelined with an injury – a strain of his lat muscle. Bennett controlled the starting spot every game since, helping guide the Bulldogs to their first national championship in 41 years.
