Memphis three-star wide receiver Joakim Dodson committed to Tennessee less than a month ago on Feb. 10.

The 6-foot, 175-pounder joined a Volunteers recruiting class that currently ranks No. 14 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Dodson’s recruitment could be picking up, however.

On Sunday, the wideout — who’s transferring from Collierville High to play his senior season at Baylor High — announced an official offer from Georgia. The Bulldogs are the sixth SEC program to offer the Vols pledge.

“The thing that stood out the most was my relationship with the staff we had a relationship before they even offered me and we just kept building it over time,” Dodson told On3 upon his commitment to Tennessee. “They’re basically family and when I go visit it feels like home rather than a visit, and they believed in me before any other school did and that was big for me.”

Dodson is the No. 586 overall prospect and No. 98 WR in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 17 player in Tennessee.

“He is a functional, coordinated mover. When you watch Dodson run his routes, he shows good burst, good acceleration and has good lateral change of direction at the top of his routes,” On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power said of Dodson.

“I think he projects as a guy that is going to be able to separate with his route running ability and functional movement skills. I think he shows the ability to attack all areas of the field. This is guy who has multi-phase ability as a receiver, in addition to the route running. He shows the ability to win at the catch point.”

Georgia Class Breakdown

The Bulldogs have five commitments early on in the cycle but already sit at No. 3 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Of Georgia’s five commitments, two project to the offensive side of the ball and three are expected to play defense at the next level. Five-star defensive lineman Justus Terry of Manchester (Ga.) ranks highest among the group, checking in at No. 8 nationally.

Along with Terry, tight end Elyiss Williams and linebacker Jadon Perlotte rank among the top 75 prospects in the country. And all five current commits hail from the Peach State, with an average distance from Athens of just 98.2 miles.
