Just a week after naming his top school, three-star Houston (Texas) North Shore defensive back Jacoby Davis received a major offer on Wednesday night from none other than defending national champion Georgia.

Davis is the No. 351 prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 35 cornerback and the No. 63 junior prospect in Texas.

The 5-foot-9, 175-pounder holds offers from Michigan, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Auburn, Florida and others. But the school standing out to him right now is just down the road: Houston.

“The hometown school, Houston, really stands out,” Davis told On3 at the Pylon 7v7 in Orlando. “I was there on a recent visit for a Junior Day and they made me feel at home. I have been to a basketball game there too and I like the fans. Coach Meekins has been recruiting me hard, we have a good relationship, and Houston is the favorite. … I am from Houston, so the environment gives me a home feeling.”

Davis said Baylor is also standing out, and he hopes to see the Bears in March after the end of the recruiting dead period. What the Georgia offer means remains to be seen, but Davis could be making a commitment any time.

“I could commit soon,” Jacoby Davis said. “I will make a verbal commitment before the season starts, but it could happen soon. Relationships are important and I want to stay in the south. I think I will stay somewhat close to home, so location is something I am looking at too. Then I just want to play big-time football.”
