Georgia quarterback Carson Beck enters the 2024 college football season as the consensus top quarterback across college football, and this offseason, he secured a ride to match that status. Reportedly purchasing a $300K Lamborghini Urus Performante in what was likely an NIL-related deal.

At SEC Media Days on Tuesday, Beck made some interesting comments when asked about the speed of his Lamborghini. Especially given the recently history on the road for the Georgia Bulldogs football program.

“Obviously, my car is fast, 100 percent, but I don’t drive like an idiot,” Beck said.

Beck’s comments come following a week where Georgia was once again in the news for the wrong reasons regarding their player’s tendencies behind the wheel. With linebacker Smael Mondon and offensive lineman Bo Hughley arrested on misdemeanor reckless driving charges, defensive back Demello Jones charged with racing on streets/highways, and running back Trevor Etienne having his charges dropped after a plea deal following multiple misdemeanors including a DUI charge in March.

All of which happened just last week in Athens.

Since then senior defensive back David Daniel-Sisavanh was dismissed from the team following a reckless driving arrest in February according to head coach Kirby Smart. Who also addressed further suspensions and punishments being handed down and the overall state of his program regarding their reckless driving history.

“We have discipline in the form of suspensions and we will continue to do so. We’ll have suspensions coming out of some of these,” Kirby Smart said, per DawgsHQ. “We had them last year with the Marcus Rosemy situation. We’ve also had to let guys go based on them.”

Rosemy-Jacksaint was cited for numerous speeding violations last May and was eventually jailed for reckless driving and excessive speeding on May 23, 2023. Representing three of 24 traffic incidents since January 2023 committed by Georgia players according to the AJC. Highlighted by a tragic, fatal crash in January 2023 that involved former Georgia defensive lineman Jalen Carter and resulted in the deaths of offensive lineman Devin Willock and Bulldogs’ staffer Chandler LeCroy.

“I always talk about process and outcomes. I talk about that in wins and losses, that we try not to base things on the outcomes in wins and losses. In this situation, the outcomes are very disappointing. Our process and the things we’ve put in place, I feel very strongly about,” Smart said. “We do as much or more education than anybody in the country.”

Hopefully Georgia’s education eventually pays off and their history of reckless driving can come to an end, and hopefully Beck’s teammates don’t take his media comments the wrong way as well.
