The Georgia Bulldogs defense continues to wreak havoc on opponents. Kirby Smart has masterfully assembled front seven filled with versatile, fast, yet strong athletes that thrive against the run while rattling quarterbacks.

UGA quarterback Stetson Bennett understands the impact and importance of the defense to the team’s success so far.

Heres’s what the Georgia signal caller said to CBS Sports’ Jenny Dell in post-game interview following last week’s victory over Auburn.

“The resiliency, they got a great quarterback in Bo. He’s a freak athlete. He just does crazy things,” Bennett said. “So they drove the ball down a little bit more than we’re used to.”

The corps of linebackers has been strong, and while Smart has noted the secondary needs improvement, the young group has grown.

Bennett watched his defense close drives out time and time again, allowing the Georgia offense to have success.

“I don’t know how many fourth-down stops we had but the one before the half was half, the one right after the half was huge,” Bennett said. “It just feels so good. And, they’re dead tired right now because he runs all over the place and they ran all over the place. But we finally got him twice, I think. And it was just awesome.”

Georgia Bulldogs offense thrives with Bennett

In a college football landscape where high-powered pass-heavy and spread offenses are commonplace.

While the 2021 Georgia Bulldogs have clearly built a special defense to slow down the competition, Bennett and the UGA had an impressive outing last week.

The Georgia backup was asked to do a lot in a hostile environment with the stakes high. He delivered, completing 14 of 21 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns.

The dual threat signal caller added 41 rushing yards on six carries, including a 30-yard scamper late in the third quarter

Over the past two seasons, Bennett is 2-0 against Auburn as a starter.

The Georgia Bulldogs have one of the toughest tasks of the year as they square off with the red hot Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday afternoon.
