The details on the salary of Georgia’s new defensive back coach Fran Brown have been revealed by the school.

According to the Georgia football program, Brown will be paid a salary of $750,000 per season. The former defensive coach for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights joined Kirby Smarts coaching team earlier in February. On3’s DawgsHQ independently confirmed the information that Brown will lead the cornerbacks while co-defensive coordinator Will Muschamp is expected to work with the safeties. Together they’ll fill the position vacated by Jahmile Addae, when he left for the defensive backs job at Miami earlier this offseason.

Brown’s transition from Rutgers to Georgia would be widely considered a promotion in the college football world. He left a developing program with the Scarlet Knights for a consistent contender for the national championship with the Georgia Bulldogs. Not only that, but the move came with a raise. At Rutgers, Brown was being paid 675,000 per season. And with his new $750,000 deal he is $75,000 richer at the end of every season.

While his resume is relatively moderate, Brown has built a reputation as quite the recruiter, likely one of the biggest decided factors for Kirby Smart when making this decision. He helped Rutgers haul in their highest ranked signee, On3 Consensus four-star linebacker Moses Walker, as the primary recruiter for him as well as consensus four-stars Anthony Johnson and Samuel Brown. Overall, Brown is listed as the primary recruiter for four of the Scarlet Knights’ top six signees in the Class of 2022.
