For years under Kirby Smart, Georgia has been able to churn out elite-level running backs and place them in the NFL. It’s always been a ‘next man up mentality’ for the Bulldogs, especially after a national championship season. This year, Kenny McIntosh is expected to be the main bell cow, with Smart having high praise for the running back.

Smart raved about the fall camp McIntosh is having, listing off everything he has done well. A big area of concern could be the weight the running back needs to keep on but people involved with the Georgia program have a plan in place. A huge season is likely ahead for McIntosh based on Smart’s comments.

“He had a great run but to be honest, great blocking too,” Smart said. “I mean, Kenny has had a great camp. He’s picked up pressures, played really physical, caught the ball out of the backfield. Everything he wants to do at the next level in our offense, we ask him to do, and he’s done a good job of that. I think Kenny will be the first one to tell you that he’s got to work really hard to maintain he weight, take really good care of his body. I think Coach Dell (McGee) is doing a really good job of taking care of Kenny. He’s done a good job.”

More on Georgia RB Kenny McIntosh

McIntosh got limited carries last season, having 58 touches for 328 yards and three touchdowns. He was the third leading rusher but with Zamir White and James Cook out of the program, he is expected to take over for the Georiga offense.

Leadership has been a huge bonus for McIntosh as well, at least to his position coach.

“I’ll start with Kenny McIntosh, a senior, who had a really nice spring and showed a lot of leadership in the summer work program, and he’s doing a great job of mentoring the two young guys who had just come in in Branson Robinson and Andrew Paul,” McGee said.

Coming out of high school, McIntosh was ranked a four-star prospect by the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting services. Now a senior in college, it’s time for him to prove his worth while at Georgia.
