Report: Tom Crean eyeing mid-major coaching job
After leading Georgia to the worst record in program history (6-26), Tom Crean was swiftly sacked following the 2021-2022 college basketball season, and both parties are now moving on.
The Bulldogs went and poached Mike White from Florida, and now it seems that Crean might be packing his bags for a gig as Evansville‘s new head coach, according to Stadium’s Jeff Goodman.
“One hot name for Evansville right now seems to be Thomas Crean. Source close to situation said that Crean talked quite a bit about the Western Kentucky and Evansville jobs this past year while aware this would be his last go-around at Georgia,” Goodman wrote.
Crean, now mulling over the WKU and Evansville positions, went 47-74 in four years at Georgia’s headman, including going 15-57 in SEC play (1-17 in 2021). Despite the lack of success in the win column, he still produced a No. 1 overall draft pick in Anthony Edwards and had memorable careers at Indiana and Marquette.

Mike White adds former Clemson coach to Georgia basketball staff
Georgia basketball coach Mike White has added Clemson assistant Antonio Reynolds-Dean to his coaching staff, it was announced Tuesday. An Atlanta native, Reynolds-Dean is finally back in his home state after spending time as an assistant at numerous schools across the country.
“I’m extremely excited,” Reynolds-Dean said in a press release. “I’ve coached all around the country for various years, and there is nothing that would excite me more than coaching in my home state at the University of Georgia. I’m overcome with joy because I’m a competitor and I can’t wait to join coach White and his staff in the mission to restore the tradition of Georgia basketball. Go Dawgs!”

Georgia is coming off of an abysmal 6-26 finish this past season that resulted in the firing of coach Tom Crean. White, who spent the past seven season coaching the Florida Gators, was hired as his replacement. He now faces the task of leading the Bulldogs back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2015.
