College football will open the season with a huge matchup in Atlanta, with the Georgia Bulldogs and Oregon Ducks facing off in one of the weekend’s headliners. ESPN recently announced ABC would be broadcasting the game, with kickoff scheduled for 3:30 ET at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Although ESPN had its own announcement, the official Georgia Football Twitter account had its own fun. Going with a retro video game look, the two program’s logos feature alongside the Chick-Fil-A kickoff logo with Mercedes-Benz-Stadium in the background. Hairy Dawg even makes an appearance toward the end, looking excited for Sept. 3.

There will be plenty at stake for Georgia and Oregon in the season opener, with both needing to make early statements in the 2022 season. For the Bulldogs, coming off a national championship means an extra target is going to be on their back. Even though the game is in Atlanta and should be a pseudo-home game, head coach Kirby Smart will make sure his team is prepared.

Switching to the Ducks and Dan Lanning will want to start his head coaching career off with a statement win. Being with Georgia last season will add even more personal interest after spending three seasons in Athens. Oregon was able to get a staple nonconference win last season by winning at Ohio State. They will be hoping to replicate the result against a tough crowd in Atlanta.

College football will be here before we know it but the anticipation for this game will linger throughout the summer. Being one of the best games of the season, regardless of where it falls on the schedule, opening weekend cannot come quick enough for both Georgia and Oregon.
