Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter declares for 2023 NFL Draft
Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter has officially made a decision on his future and whether to enter the upcoming NFL Draft. The 2021 Rotary Lombardi Award finalist will be entering the 2023 NFL Draft and forgoing any remaining collegiate eligibility.
Here was his announcement shortly after the National Title game:
Carter entered the 2022 campaign as the heir apparent to first-round NFL Draft pick Jordan Davis on the interior of Georgia’s defensive line, though injuries have hampered his junior campaign quite a bit.
In 2022, Carter finished with 32 total tackles, seven for tackles for loss and three sacks.
As a Coaches All-SEC second-team selection as a sophomore in 2021, Carter racked up 37 tackles and 33 quarterback pressures, while snagging 8.5 tackles for a loss, 3.0 sacks and two blocked kicks.
Even as a true freshman in the COVID-impacted 2020 season Carter managed to make his mark, playing in 10 games with two starts and recording 14 tackles, 3.0 tackles for a loss and 13 quarterback pressures.
Carter is widely hailed as a likely top-15 NFL Draft pick by most analysts due to his excellent combination of athleticism, size and strength.
