Georgia flips 4-star CB Ondre Evans from LSU: 'Georgia is a hell of a program and that is where I am going'
When Ondre Evans committed to LSU in June, he had recently earned an offer from Georgia after attending camp in Athens. Once the four-star cornerback out of Nashville CPA committed to the Tigers on June 15, Georgia gave him some space.
After a couple of months, Fran Brown reached back out and opened communication up once again with the No. 134 prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings.
It started off with casual talk. It picked up a little as August rolled into September. The conversations became more consistent throughout the season, and eventually, Evans returned to Athens to watch Georgia practice last week. He left feeling he wanted to be a Bulldog instead of a Tiger.
“I was staying strong for a while, but about three weeks ago, I started to truly consider Georgia more,” Evans told On3. “It started weighing on my mind. I started to think about it, and after watching practice, I really saw something different.
“Seeing Georgia practice and how the team competes made an impact on me. How the coaches coach and just getting a feel for how it goes there, I felt really good about Georgia. That visit showed me what Georgia is about.”
Evans made the call to Georgia on Monday before giving LSU the news of his decision on Tuesday. Coach Brown deserves a lot of credit.
“He just kept pushing. I held off for a while and I kept telling Coach Fran that I was committed to LSU, but that didn’t stop him. Coach Fran never gave up, he did a great job and he was a big part of this decision.

“The more we talked, the more I listened. He would recruit me, he would give his little pitch here and there, but we built a real relationship. The way he recruited me made a big impact on my decision.”
This decision feels different than Evans’ first one. He felt good about LSU. The staff in Baton Rouge did all the right things, but the No. 1 prospect in Tennessee is set on playing for the back-to-back national champions.
“I am done,” Evans said. “I am going to Georgia and I will be there in December. It is about the fit with Georgia. Once I saw practice and how they do things, it hit me. They are not only the best team in the SEC, but they have a great Business School and that was a big factor for me too.
“Georgia will push me hard and I feel I will max out my potential there under Coach Fran and Coach Will Muschamp. Georgia is a hell of a program and that is where I am going.”
