The Georgia Bulldogs will enter the 2022 college football season as the defending national champions. On Saturday, Georgia provided a first look at its 2021 National Championship rings at the Bulldogs’ spring game. Now, the team has officially unveiled the championship rings, giving an in-depth glimpse on Monday afternoon. Georgia also tweeted individual pictures of all angles of the ring, providing a full look at the new piece of hardware for the Bulldogs.

Georgia defeated SEC rival Alabama in the National Championship game to take home last season’s title. The Bulldogs went 14-1 overall last season and a perfect 8-0 against SEC opponents during the regular season. Georgia’s only loss came in the SEC Championship to Alabama, but the Bulldogs still found a way to end up on top of the college football world when it was all said and done.

Kirby Smart is looking for a new identity on the heels of Georgia’s National Championship

Following the National Championship, Georgia lost a lot of talent to the NFL Draft. With multiple key playmakers on both sides of the ball no longer with the program, the Bulldogs are looking for others to step up. But maybe more importantly, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart is looking for a new identity that will be created by other players stepping up into larger leadership roles.

“We’re creeping on it,” said Smart. “There was some really good accountability in terms of holding each other accountable this spring that I was shocked by, that I was like, man, there’s going to be a void in leadership, how can we create leadership opportunities. And from the day one they were pushing each other, they were cheering each other on the sideline.

“I’m like, man, it’s almost like they wanted to emulate those other guys. I’m talking about from a leadership standpoint now. They can’t emulate what some of those guys do on the field. They can emulate the standard, though, and I thought they really did that for 14 of the 15 practices. Man, I was like, dude, they had a great attitude, they worked really hard today and we made it tough, and they did it. We’re going to have to have a little different personality. We’re going to have some grit, some toughness because it won’t just be talent. We were really talented last year, and not that we’re not talented now, but we’re going to have to win in different ways.”

Georgia begin its quest to defend its National Championship on Saturday, September 3 on the road against Oregon.
