Georgia has received some criticism early on this season after needing to rally from behind to win its first two SEC games.

There are some who wonder if the Bulldogs are still legitimate national title contenders with the way they have played through the first five games of the season.

SEC Network analyst Tim Tebow joined the The Paul Finebaum Show on Friday afternoon and said that he is frustrated with all of the criticism Georgia has received. Tebow believes the Bulldogs will remain in the national title race throughout the 2023 season.

“It gets very frustrating. I mean it’s so hard when you’ve been so successful like they have. I think it’s 22 in a row. And people want to find the reasons why it’s not as good,” Tebow said. “But do you know last week when they go to Jordan-Hare — beating that team for those three hours. I know Auburn, the season hasn’t been as good as they used to be. But last Saturday afternoon, that was a pretty good Auburn football team that showed up.”

Auburn led Georgia 17-10 in the third quarter, and the game was tied at 20 late in the fourth quarter. However, eventually the Bulldogs came out on top with a 27-20 victory.

Tim Tebow pointed out that Georgia had some close calls during last year’s run to a second straight national title, too.

“I know people are like, ‘Well, Georgia didn’t beat them by as many.’ … Alright, well look at last year, the Kent State game, look at the Missouri game,” Tebow said. “Georgia in this streak hasn’t always destroyed teams. But they do it their way. And once again, Georgia’s doing it. It’s another victory.”

Tebow added that he expects the Bulldogs to continue to get better and better as the season goes along.

Some question UGA because Carson Beck is in his first year as the starting quarterback. But Tebow believes that Beck will get better the more he plays and the rest of the team will improve with him.

“You need to understand that this team’s getting better every single week,” Tebow said. “It’s a quarterback that’s only had a handful of starts. It’s a team that’s continuing to get better. And they’ve played their best when their best is needed – in the second half, in the fourth quarter. And that’s something Georgia fans should be really excited about.”

The Bulldogs will face their toughest test yet on Saturday when a ranked Kentucky team comes to town. We should have a better idea of just how good this Georgia team is after this weekend.
