Georgia HC Kirby Smart and assistants visit 2025 4-star RB Byron Louis
Coaches are out on the recruiting trail in January, and the staff at Georgia is no exception. Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart and three assistants were on the road Tuesday to visit Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage 2025 four-star running back Byron Louis.
Louis is the nation’s No. 200 overall prospect and No. 16 running back in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 28 recruit in Florida.
This past weekend, Louis visited Coral Gables for the in-state Miami Hurricanes’ junior day.
“I mean, it was amazing,” Louis told CaneSport. “It’s the University of Miami, it’s home. What’s not great to come back? I’m glad I came.”
Louis is well aware of Miami’s running back history, including some recent top South Florida backs on the team now like Mark Fletcher and Jordan Lyle.
“We were all on separate teams – me and Mark were together – but now we can compete under one house and get each other better every day (if he picks Miami),” Louis said.

Louis also said he continues to weigh out his option and will narrow it down after his official visits.
“Right now I’m just enjoying these visits,” he said. “I didn’t take a lot of visits during my junior season. There were a lot of question marks on me and my ability – `Can I withstand 18, 20 carries a game? Can I be the guy?’ I was playing behind Mark Fletcher the last two years, and I feel like I checked off a lot of those question marks. Now it’s more about me producing, doing what I can do. As of right now I’m just enjoying my visits.”
Georgia ranks No. 3 in 2025 cycle
Georgia currently holds commitments from six prospects in the 2025 cycle: Manchester (Ga.) five-star defensive lineman Justus Terry, Folkston (Ga.) Camden County four-star tight end Elyiss Williams, Buford (Ga.) four-star linebacker Jadon Perlotte, Alpharetta (Ga.) four-star tight end Ethan Barbour, Cedartown (Ga.) four-star cornerback Tae Harris and Ellenwood (Ga.) Cedar Grove three-star running back Bo Walker.
Terry was one of the earliest prospects to commit to the ‘Dawgs, and he headlines their 2025 class.
“It’s always love and good times. I like the coaching staff, all the coaches show that they’re there for you,” Terry told On3 last year. “If you show that you’re going to work, they’re going to be down for you and welcome you with open arms. It’s just family love. When I step on campus, it feels natural — like I’m at home.”
