Georgia head coach Kirby Smart provided some key injury updates on Tuesday amid fall camp according to Jake Rowe of Dawg’s HQ. Updating the injury status of running back Roderick Robinson, wide receiver Colbie Young, and defensive lineman Xzavier McLeod.

Smart said that there is no timeline for the return of Robinson, who has missed some time recently due to turf toe. Also adding that they’re trying to get Young back on the field after he missed both of Georgia’s scrimmages during fall camp following a hamstring injury.

But in regards to McLeod, Smart did not disclose the extent or specifics of his injury, but said that they are trying to get him back.

According to Rowe, Robinson was seen jogging at practice late last week but did not dress out or condition during Georgia’s most recent scrimmage. With his turf toe injury following an injury-burdened true freshman season for Robinson after missing six games following a high-ankle sprain suffered in Week 3 against South Carolina.

Robinson ranked third on the team in rushing yards last season despite only appearing in five games for the Bulldogs. Rushing for 196 yards and two touchdowns headlined by a career-high 70 yards in the Orange Bowl against Florida State to end the season. Expected to be a key contributor in the backfield this season alongside Trevor Etienne and potentially Branson Robinson who is working back from injury.

Both Young and McLeod joined Georgia this offseason through the transfer portal, Young following two seasons at Miami and McLeod after one lone year with South Carolina.

In his two years with the Hurricanes, Young caught 79 passes for 930 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns in 22 games. Providing a unique size and skill set to Georgia’s wide receiver room at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds as a potential big target and effective weapon in the passing game. A unit who will use help wherever it can get it following the departure of Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey to the NFL.

As a true freshman at South Carolina, McLeod retained his redshirt after appearing in just four games last season for the Gamecocks. Making one tackle and recording one interception both against Furman. And although he lacks experience, he definitely has the build and recruiting pedigree of a prototypical Georgia offensive lineman.

Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 315 pounds, McLeod was a four-star prospect out of Camden High School in South Carolina. Ranked the No. 22 defensive lineman and the No. 196 overall player for the 2023 recruiting class according to the On3 Industry Ranking. A weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Given Georgia’s overall depth, the Bulldogs may be less affected by injuries to rotational, non-starting players. But there’s no question that they want they’ll want Robinson, Young, and McLeod healthy and ready to go ahead of their first game of the season
