Georgia head coach Kirby Smart shares pregame conversation with Peyton Manning
The Georgia Bulldogs got pushed a little bit today by the Tennessee Volunteers but prevailed 41-17. After the game, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart talked about what he said to Volunteer legend Peyton Manning before the game.
“I got a chance to talk to Peyton before the game but it was more about his son. He wants me to recruit his son. He had me worried because he said he was gonna play quarterback today. So I was getting even more nervous.”
It’s pretty funny that Peyton is already asking college coaches to recruit his son. If there’s a family that doesn’t need to ask for their bloodlines to be recruited in the game of football, it’s the Manning family.
For those keeping track at home, Peyton’s son, Marshall, is now 10-years old. Buffalo Bills’ quarterback Josh Allen is his favorite football player.
Arch Manning, the nation’s No. 1 overall prospect for the class of 2023 according to On3, is already one of the most coveted recruits in college football recruiting history. He’s just a junior. But that attention is well warranted and well deserved.
Tennessee scored the most points that has been scored on Georgia all season long thus far
17 points might not sound like a lot. But on this Georgia defense it is. The Bulldogs have suffocated the life out of every single offense they’ve faced in the 2021 season.
Quarterback Hendon Hooker led the Vols on a 10-play, 77-yard drive finishing with a 9-yard touchdown to open the game. The Volunteers were up 7-0 early and up 10-7 at the end of the first quarter. That’s unfamiliar territory for the 2021 Georgia Bulldogs.
Then the Bulldogs roared back, and rattled off 27 straight points, including 17 in a thoroughly dominant second quarter.

While the Bulldogs may have won the game, they suffered a number of critical injuries on the defensive end, including linebacker Nolan Smith and defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt.
The injuries are really starting to add up for Georgia, and they have already been without star linebacker Adam Anderson, who was recently formally charged with rape.

Tennessee wide receiver Cedric Tillman went absolutely bananas today on Georgia’s secondary–hauling in 10 catches for 200 yards and a touchdown.
