Kearis Jackson comments on having George Pickens back
George Pickens is one of Georgia’s top players. Although he’s been recovering from an injury most of the season, the wide receiver is finally healthy and back in action for the Bulldogs – coming back just in time for the College Football Playoff.
In Georgia’s dominant 34-11 win over Michigan in the Orange Bowl semifinal on New Year’s Eve, Pickens recorded one reception for nine yards. While he’s working his way back into the mix on the receiving end, he made a big play in another area – putting up a big pancake block against the Wolverines that ended up going viral.
As Pickens is back making big plays for the Bulldogs, his teammates are excited to have him on the field with them again – especially fellow wide receiver Kearis Jackson, who shared what Pickens brings to the team and commented on his big block against Michigan.
“George brings a lot of interest to the team and receiver room,” Jackson said. “And the block he put up against Michigan was kind of funny. I didn’t notice it until I seen the video going around. He does it all the time – did it last year, the year before it. That’s just the way that George plays, very physical and just love to do things to go viral, I guess.”
Pickens and the No. 3 ranked Bulldogs are now gearing up for next Monday night’s College Football Playoff national championship game against No. 1 Alabama. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, with ESPN carrying the national broadcast.

Kirby Smart shares what will be key for Georgia in Alabama rematch
Heading into the second meeting of the season between the Bulldogs and Alabama in the College Football Playoff national championship, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart was asked how he and his team are approaching the big rematch with the Crimson Tide.
“When you’re playing a rematch game, I think a lot can go into it in terms of you’ve got to be careful because you’ve got things and games in your breakdown that might change this game in terms of we didn’t have the SEC championship game, obviously, in our breakdown, then the playoff game,” Smart said. “And what tendencies changed, what matchups we’re looking for, who is in, who is out.
“There’s a lot of things that go into it. But at the end of the day, you’re really not as worried about what they’re doing; you’re worried about what you’re doing – and how well you can do that is the most important part.”
