Georgia was searching for a playmaker with speed in this class and they may have found it in Orlando Bishop Moore wide receiver Chandler Smith.

The 6-foot-3, 180-pound four-star will not only play football in Athens, but he will run track too. The No. 283 prospect in the On3 Consensus has posted times of 10.28 seconds in the 100 and 21.40 seconds in the 200m.

He’s taking that speed to Georgia.

“I made the decision Sunday morning when meeting with coach Kirby Smart,” Smith said. “I knew I liked Georgia a lot during the visit, but after he chopped it up with me and my family, I felt it. Georgia was it.”

The Bulldogs beat out Tennessee for the former Florida commit and it came down to Georgia’s offensive plan.

“Georgia is so detailed. They get you ready for the NFL. They run, they pass, they have balance, and they are so detailed. It is about family and business at Georgia.

“They work, they prepare guys for the NFL, and what Georgia is, is what I want to be a part of.”

The vibe in Athens felt right to Smith too. He entered the visit a lean towards the Vols, but after getting a feel for Georgia, things quickly changed.

“I told coach (Cortez) Hankton when he visited me Thursday that Tennessee was on top,” Smith said. “Georgia never gave up though. I got up there, I spent time around the people, and it was different.

“Things changed. Georgia is about the team, the people, and it is one big family. I want to be a part of that.

“The feeling I had at Georgia is something I can’t even explain. It is just family.”
