The Georgia Bulldogs are going to have some work to do in replacing the talent the team is losing to the NFL. Georgia linebacker Quay Walker announced, via Twitter on Tuesday, that he is entering the 2022 NFL Draft.

Walker has played in 52 games in his career with Georgia across four seasons. He has totaled 139 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, five sacks, three pass breakups, and one fumble recovery.

“First and foremost, I would like to give thanks to the Man above for allowing me to be in the position I’m in today,” Walker said.

“To Coach Smart, Coach Schumann and the entire football staff: Thank you for giving a kid from Southwest Georgia an opportunity to attend the best university in the world. These past 4 years flew by, but my time at UGA has allowed to me to make countless memories and relationships with my brothers that will last forever.

“To the University of Georgia fans: From the moment I stepped foot on campus, thank you for making my home state just that – HOME. Thank you for the constant support and for being the best fans imaginable.

“Since I was a kid, it has always been my dream to play in the NFL. I cam to Georgia to compete for a championship and to put me in a position to play the game I love at the highest level. With all that being said, I could not be any more excited to take the next step in my journey and begin preparations for the NFL Draft!”

Walker was a big factor on Georgia’s impressive defense

Georgia had a dominant defense throughout the season. The Bulldogs led the nation by allowing just 15 points per game. Georgia also allowed 81.7 rushing yards per game (third best in country), 172.2 passing yards (third best), and 253.9 total yards per game (second best).

On the season, no team scored more than 24 points against Georgia’s defense. Alabama actually had the two highest scoring outputs against the Bulldogs, scoring 41 in the SEC Championship and 18 in the National Championship. As a whole, Georgia only allowed double digit points seven times on the season.

The Bulldogs held Michigan to 11 points in the CFP Semifinal, and played well against Alabama in the title game.

Now, Walker will be moving on from the program to pursue NFL opportunities, and he joins a long list of Georgia players to do so.
