Georgia moves up in On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings
Georgia landed a massive win on the recruiting trail Saturday when Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit four-star linebacker Troy Bowles committed to the Bulldogs. His pledge elevated Georgia’s 2023 recruiting class to No. 3 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings. The Bulldogs’ group is currently ranked No. 1 in the SEC.
Bowles chose Georgia over Ohio State and Oklahoma.
“Georgia won out in the end simply because what they have to offer match my goals,” Bowles told On3’s Chad Simmons. “Ohio State and Oklahoma are great schools too, but I really like what Georgia does with linebackers and how they develop players at my position. I can’t see a better place for a linebacker right now than Georgia.”
Bowles is the No. 57 overall prospect and No. 2 linebacker in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 14 player in Florida.
Bowles continues Georgia’s summer success on the recruiting trail
The 6-foot-0, 206 pound linebacker is the 14th commit in the Bulldogs’ 2023 class, which includes 11 four-stars and three three-stars. He is Georgia’s sixth top-100 recruit and the second-highest-ranked prospect in the group behind Phenix City (Ala.) Central four-star cornerback A.J. Harris.
Bowles is Georgia’s third commitment this month following Tallahassee (Fla.) Lincoln four-star linebacker Raylen Wilson and Miami Gulliver Prep four-star cornerback Daniel Harris.
The Bulldogs had a strong June as well by earning commitments from four recruits including Harris, Barnesville (Ga.) Lamar County Comprehensive four-star linebacker CJ Allen, Colonial Heights (Va.) Life Christian Academy three-star interior offensive lineman Joshua Miller and Lafayette (La.) Ascension Episcopal three-star kicker Peyton Woodring.

“Georgia is family. It is like family there,” Allen told On3’s Chad Simmons. “From being around the coaches to being around the players, it is like family for me at Georgia. The way I vibe with the players, how I fit in with everyone, made it the perfect place for me.”
Bulldogs are still in contention for top defensive prospects
Georgia is currently in good position with multiple blue-chip defensive recruits. Two are them are high schools teammates at Montgomery (Ala.) Carver: five-star defensive lineman James Smith and five-star EDGE Qua Russaw.
Both players have taken official visits to Athens. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Bulldogs are the favorite to land Russaw at 49%. Meanwhile, the RPM gives Georgia the second-best odds to land Smith at 40%, just behind Alabama at 46.8%.
Meanwhile, Saint Louis (Mo.) four-star EDGE Samuel M’Pemba is given a 76.9% chance to commit to Georgia, according to the RPM. He has taken two unofficial visits to the Bulldogs, including a trip to Athens on June 22.
