Georgia Bulldogs point guard Silas Demary plans to enter the Transfer Portal, On3 has learned. This comes following his sophomore season.

Demary played his high school basketball at Combine Academy in North Carolina. There, he was a four-star recruit, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He was the 74th-ranked player nationally in that recruiting class and the 17th-ranked point guard in that recruiting cycle. At the time, On3 national recruiting analyst Jamie Shaw scouted him.

“Demary is a high-level defender, both on and off the ball,” Shaw wrote. “Great length. Excellent anticipation. Really competes at a high level. A combo guard on offense. Not a paint touch PG, but he can get you into sets. He is an aggressive downhill scorer. Great in transition. Solid athlete. Like to see continue to tighten the jump shot. State champion. UAA champion.”

Coming out of high school, Demary fielded several high-level offers. That included from USC and NC State to go along with several other SEC offers.

Silas Demary played in 70 games over his two seasons with Georgia. He also started in 69 of them, including every game he appeared in last season. For his Georgia career, Demary averaged 31.5 minutes played per game. He was also an SEC-All Freshman team selection.

For the 2024-25 season, Demary started every game and averaged 13.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game. He shot 39.6 percent from the field, 37.4 percent from three-point range, and 80.4 percent from the free-throw line. On the defensive side of the court, he had 0.2 blocks and 1.7 steals per game.

Both seasons Silas Demary played at Georgia were under head coach Mike White. This most recent season was his third as the head coach of the Bulldogs and he led the team to a 20-13 overall record and an 8-10 record in SEC play. That was tied for ninth in the regular season conference standings. It was also good enough to make it to the NCAA Tournament. There, Georgia lost in the first round to Gonzaga. The Bulldogs also lost their first SEC Tournament game this season.

The Transfer Portal opened in college basketball ahead of the Sweet Sixteen. By Wednesday, more than 1,250 college basketball players had entered the Transfer Portal.
